Morning Snowshoe with the Goats

Wed January 19 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Come out to the farm this January for a morning hike or snowshoe through the Ten Apple Farm woods with our herd of Alpine dairy goats! Dress warm! Dust off those snowshoes* — if there’s snow, we might need them!

A Ten Apple Farm goat hike is a two hour educational and recreational goat experience. The winter hike consists of an approximately one mile loop through the woods on lightly groomed trails. There is some steep terrain. Children must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by an adult. (Children 4 and under must be carried, children 5-6 should plan to hold a adult’s hand during the hike). Along the way we’ll talk about the wide variety of things goats are used for, including dairy, fiber, land management, as pack animals, and you’ll learn a thing or two about raising and caring for goats. After the hike, you’ll be able to sample some fresh goat milk and cookies!

*In case of snowy conditions that might require or allow for snowshoes, we have 4-5 pairs that we can loan at a small additional ($5) fee to cover wear and tear, or snowshoes can also be rented at Pineland, just a few miles away.

This hike is booked through Airbnb Experiences and is limited to 10 people, $22/adults, $15/kids 5-12

We are changing our COVID-19 protocols to match new recommendations specified by the national and state CDC. Because our hikes are entirely outside, with the possibility for social distancing, we will no longer require the wearing of masks on the hikes, especially for anyone who is fully vaccinated. Please know that Ten Apple Farm is a safe space, and if you are more comfortable wearing a mask, we encourage you to do so. We will continue to require the wearing of a mask inside, if you need to use our home bathroom. With this in mind, for the foreseeable future we will:
  • Keep our experience outdoors as much as possible—please use the bathroom before arriving at the farm! (Our home bathroom will be available to guests in an emergency; a mask must be worn inside.)
  • Limit public hikes to a maximum of 15 guests (10 guests on Airbnb experiences)
  • Serve milk outdoors in disposable cups, with fresh cookies in individual bags
  • Fully refund any cancellation for covid-related illness, up to the scheduled time of the hike
  • Our safety waiver is now available online — by purchasing a ticket, you agree to the waiver for yourself and all members of your party, including any minors in your party. We ask that you share the waiver with everyone that will accompany you to the farm.

Postponement due to weather: We can’t take the goats out if it’s raining. We will be watching the weather and temperature forecast in the days leading up to the hike and will let you know within 24 hours of the hike time whether the hike is a go or not.

Cancellation policy: If we have to postpone the hike due to weather, we will reschedule you on the next available hike, schedule a new make up date for the hike, or offer you a refund. If you cancel at least 7 days prior to the hike date we can offer you a full refund. If you are not feeling well on the day of the hike, please let us know, stay home, and we will fully refund your tickets. Other than for reasons of covid-related illness, we can’t issue refunds without at least 7 days notice.
