Morning Goat Hike or Snowshoe

Sun January 15, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$8 – $16

Come out to the farm this January for a magical morning hike through the Ten Apple Farm woods with our herd of Alpine dairy goats! Get those snowshoes ready! As soon as we get some snow, our winter goat hikes turn into winter goat snowshoeing! If conditions require it, and you need snowshoes, or would just like to try them out, we have 4-5 pairs here at the farm available to rent for an additional $10/pair (to help cover wear and tear). Snowshoes are also available to rent at Pineland Farms, just a 5 minute drive up the road from our farm.

A Ten Apple Farm goat hike is a two hour educational and recreational goat experience. The spring hike consists of an approximately mile and a half loop through the woods on lightly groomed trails. There is some steep terrain. Children must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by an adult. (Children 4 and under must be carried, children 5-6 should plan to hold a adult’s hand during the hike). Along the way we’ll talk about the wide variety of things goats are used for, including dairy, fiber, land management, as pack animals, and you’ll learn a thing or two about raising and caring for goats. After the hike you’ll get to try some fresh goat milk with homemade cookies!

$16 per adult, $12 for teens & seniors, $8 for kids (ages 5-12).*

Due to inflation and increased animal feed costs, we are raising our goat hike ticket prices slightly this year. Over the past 2 years, our hay costs have doubled and our grain costs have increased almost 35%. We understand that inflation is impacting many in the community and we have purposefully continued to keep our prices as low as possible to enable anyone who wishes to attend a goat hike the opportunity to do so. If price is a barrier, please let us know. If you want to further support the farm while you are visiting, we encourage you to visit our farm shop and check out some of the great Ten Apple Farm merchandise we have available, or leave a tip for more hay in the goats’ tip jar in the barn.

PLEASE READ:  IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT GOAT HIKING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve made some important changes to our hikes. Our primary concern is safety, for our guests, our animals, and ourselves. At this time we are NOT requiring masks to be worn while outdoors on hikes. For the foreseeable future we will:
  • Keep our experience outdoors as much as possible—please use the bathroom before arriving at the farm! (Our home bathroom will be available to guests who need one.)
  • Following guidelines from state and national CDC, we are not requiring masks to be worn while outside at the farm.
  • Limit public hikes to a maximum of 15 guests*
  • Serve milk outdoors, with fresh cookies in individual bags
  • Our safety waiver is now available online — by purchasing a ticket, you agree to the waiver for yourself and all members of your party, including any minors in your party. We ask that you share the waiver with everyone that will accompany you to the farm.

Postponement due to weather: We can’t take the goats out if it’s raining. We will be watching the weather and temperature forecast in the days leading up to the hike and will let you know within 24 hours of the hike time whether the hike is a go or not.

Cancellation policy: If we have to postpone the hike due to weather, we will reschedule you on the next available hike, schedule a new make up date for the hike, or offer you a refund. If you cancel at least 7 days prior to the hike date we can offer you a full refund. Otherwise, we can’t issue refunds without at least 7 days notice.

*A glitch in our ticketing software lists the TOTAL number of tickets available under each kind of ticket. The number listed is the TOTAL tickets available, not the amount of each adult, teen/senior, or child tickets individually available. We apologize for any confusion and are working on fixing this issue.
