Come out to the farm this December for an afternoon hike through the Ten Apple Farm woods with our herd of Alpine dairy goats! Dress warm! And dust off those snowshoes* — if we get snow, we might need them! And the goats will all be donning their festive holiday scarves for December.
A Ten Apple Farm goat hike is a two hour educational and recreational goat experience. The hike consists of an approximately one and a half mile loop through the woods on lightly groomed trails. There is some steep terrain. Children must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by an adult. (Children 4 and under must be carried, children 5-6 should plan to hold a adult’s hand during the hike). Along the way we’ll talk about the wide variety of things goats are used for, including dairy, fiber, land management, as pack animals, and you’ll learn a thing or two about raising and caring for goats. After the hike, you’ll be able to sample some fresh goat milk and cookies!
*In case of snowy conditions that might require or allow for snowshoes, we have 4-5 pairs that we can loan at a small additional fee to cover wear and tear, or snowshoes can also be rented at Pineland, just a few miles away.
