Mission Accomplished! (almost)

It was a great weekend, and we got much accomplished. Not our entire list, but enough to feel pretty good about our work. The biggest and most satisfying accomplishment of the weekend by far was the construction, inaugural lighting, and marshmallow toasting over our new fire pit. Earth and rock was moved, arms and backs bruised and sore, but when it was all said and done, the joy the kids took in roasting marshmallows made it all worthwhile.

So in the end, here’s what we got done on our list:

  • Firepit!
  • weeded the asparagus and raspberry canes
  • planted carrots, beets and turnips
  • made cheese
  • mowed lawn

Still a lot to do, but then, there always is!

Check out our page on Facebook for a full photo roundup of the weekend’s work and play.

ps. One thing that wasn’t on our list, but was a welcome part of the weekend was attending a  Portland Permaculture SkillShare: Season Extension & Hoop House Strategies, hosted by David Homa, who you may remember led a tree pruning skillshare here back in January. It was amazing to see how much food Dave is producing in some small, relatively simple hoop houses. It’s pushed one new item to the top of our next to do list.

More photos from the skillshare on our page on Facebook.
